Kathryn Johnson is a unique family law practitioner, located in the Austin area. With a vast background in the legal landscape, Kathryn’s journey spans over twenty years of dedication to the legal field, including as a court clerk, legal assistant, and paralegal in the areas of family law, criminal law, and civil litigation. The invaluable experience gained in each role, coupled with her desire to see justice administered equally to all individuals, led Kathryn to become a licensed Attorney. Kathryn has transitioned from being a Prosecutor to joining Modern Family Law, a thriving and expanding law firm. Her confidence in the whole team, encompassing skilled attorneys, dedicated paralegals, and an awesome administrative team, ensures that client cases progress swiftly, minimizing any unnecessary delays and keeping matters from lingering.

Kathryn Johnson’s educational journey is marked by a passion for learning and community involvement. A proud alumna of THE Albany State University in Albany, Georgia, Kathryn originally pursued her undergraduate studies in engineering, showcasing her academic abilities and diverse interests. However, a summer employment opportunity led her to change her major to criminal justice. She knew this path would lead her to law school, but did not realize the length of the journey.
Years after returning to her family roots in Austin, Kathryn enrolled in the Legal Studies program at Texas State University, graduating with her Master of Science degree, paralegal certification, and mediation certification in December 2014. At the height of a global pandemic, her commitment to her legal career led to her enrollment in South Texas College of Law Houston, joining the ranks of their distinguished alum in December 2022. Her desire to serve her community continued under the rigorous pressures of law school, as evidenced by her active role in her school’s chapter and in the Southwest Region of the National Black Law Student Association. Within this dynamic organization, Kathryn served as the Vice President and Attorney General respectfully. Kathryn also served as an active member of the Hispanic Law Student Association and the Women in Law Organization. Additionally, she gained practical experience helping families in the Houston area be awarded guardianship over their incapacitated adult children. Her academic and leadership background enriches her practice, providing a unique perspective in the realm of family law.
